We love classics and we love brand new work. We do both. Formerly under the moniker “The Hamlet Project Chicago,” The Collective is broadening its horizons with new Chicago playwrights and still producing classics in a setting where we bring Shakespeare/Chekhov/Pinter/et cetera back to the people.
Ever notice how you go see classics and suddenly you’re sipping liquid diamonds and bathing in rare caviars while you chat with Bradford about your Equine hobbies? Us too. By all accounts, Shakespeare liked dick jokes, fart jokes and had a strikingly progressive sexual appetite. Us too. So here we are, playing with the classics and starting a new play incubator series, and bringing you world premieres.
We seek humans of all different colors and sizes and ages and shapes. It’s kind of our thing.
